Why Highmark
Highmark Avalanche Safety was born from a need for local, professional education services based in the North for Northern people. With the increasing popularity of snowmobiling as well as all types of winter recreation in the mountains, the demand for courses and instruction grew also. Highmark has grown out of that demand for education and helps people go harder, do more, and be safer in the mountains.
Meet Dave
Dave McAleney grew up in the mountains of the North Rockies, and has a passion for sharing the wilderness with people and helping them explore safely and responsibly. A winter recreation enthusiast for most of his life, he volunteers with Search and Rescue on the Avalanche Team, and has worked with Avalanche Canada’s North Rockies Field Team, as well as other private and volunteer groups as an avalanche tech and educator. Dave sleds well, skis poorly, and climbs with enthusiasm.
